Installing the Software
Our primary development tool is Netbeans, which is free and open source. To install it and Java, go to http://javafx.com and follow the instructions for downloading and installing the Java Development Kit (JDK, not JRE) and Netbeans 6.1.
We'll also start off playing with the Greenfoot software. Install that after you have Java installed. See the Greenfoot tutorial for more information about installing, but generally you just download it and double-click to run the installer.
