Page Index:
The Merrill-Cazier Library is the main library on the campus of Utah State University, located in Logan, UT. Renovated in 2005, it houses many technological features that make serving patrons an efficient process. Other libraries on campus include: Quinney Library, College of Natural Resources; Anne Carroll Moore Library, Edith Bowen Elementary; Herbarium, Department of Biology; Adele & Dale Young Education Technology Center (Y.E.T.C.)
The site also includes links for libraries located off-campus and around Cache Valley, the area surrounding Logan.
The Merrill-Cazier library primarily serves college students and professionals. K-7 students will not be able to use this site; 9-12 students may find some useful resources, especially the digital libraries, maybe the electronic journals. K-5, and possibly 6th and 7th grade, students will be better served by the resources linked through the Anne Carroll Moore Library in the Edith Bowen Laboratory School.
While most of the sources on this site are designed for college students the digital libraries and electronic journals provide some usable sources for 7-12 grade students. Of particular interest are the digital libraries involving the histories of Utahns, easily accessed through the Fife Folklore Archives . More specifically, these histories include people who came from other countries, experienced civil issues due to ethnic identification, belong to the dominant religious group—Mormons, and share folklore stories Utahns still hear about, such as Old Ephraim.
Students can use these resources for projects in world language classes (Spanish interviews), government (civil rights in Utah), geography (Teton Dam flood), social studies (ethnic groups), language arts (poetry folk tales), technology (podcasts), health and more.
Further, educators can use these sources to create assignments and enhance learning activities in the classroom.
