Orlando, FL
October 28-31, 2008
“EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology.” (http://www.educause.edu/)
The focus of this conference is technology in higher education. The topics cover everything from the application process, residential life, infrastructure for administration, to the trends in teaching with technology in the classroom. The target audience is primarily those who work in an information technology role in higher education. However, the conference is large enough with enough variety that anyone interested in the impact technology has on higher education would be able to find some interesting classes.
The conference is broken out into 8 different tracks:
- · Emerging Technologies and Trends
- · Enterprise Information Systems and Services
- · Information Resources, Digital Content, and Libraries
- · Leadership, Management, Planning, and Partnerships
- · Research Computing, Advanced Networking, Infrastructure, and Middleware
- · Security, Policy, and Privacy
- · Teaching and Learning
- · User Services
In addition to these areas they have Lightening Rounds, Pre-Conference Seminars, a Halloween Party, General Sessions, Point/Counterpoint discussions, and even further breakout tracks within some of the eight topics listed above.
The cost of the conference varies greatly from paying $255 for a half day to $960 for the full conference. Early bird and membership discounts do apply. For more information on cost consult their web page at http://net.educause.edu/e08/Registration/14699.
