E-Learn Conference
The E-Learn confernece series is an international forum designed to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas on the research, issues, developments, and applications of a broad range of topics related to e-Learning. (http://www.aace.org/conf/elearn/unique.htm.) The website is www.aace.org/conf/ELEARN/default.htm. This conference is not only for those in education, but also for corporate, government, military, library and museums personnel.
This looks like a very interesting conference to attend. The price for a K-12 professional or student is $225. This year it is in Las Vegas between the 17th -21st of November. There are over 600 presentations. I found 99 in Instructional Design. There are also product demonstrations, tutorial/workshops, panels, best practices sessions, and discussions on professional research papers.
The E-Learn conference series is about the blending of ideas and experiences of the world's leading researchers, developers, and practitioners from education, government, healthcare and business to learn and inform one another. Their global goal is for creating and improving online learning. (http://www.aace.org/conf/ELEARN/Intro.htm

Of course, there are keynote speakers, one for each day of the conference. According to the 2008 conference these individuals are professors in the Learning Sciences and Computing Engineering. The other two are corporate professionals. You can see the list of keynote speakers and other speakers at http://www.aace.org/conf/elearn/speakers/
I wanted to check out this site since the conference was only a few weeks ago. There were a few blog posts from attendees. One link was on the Asia Symposium which was on the first day of the conference. The link only had pictures of the speakers and those attending, which by the captions, there were many from other countries who participated. I was hoping to find conference slideshows or handouts. One link that interested me was Got Twitter? I had never heard of this. It seems that this is a way to keep in touch with your friends and family but with short statements (140 words or less). It is like a blog post yet shorter. They had a video to explain it. dotsub.com/api/smallplayer.php I don't know if I would ever use, but I like to know about new technology.
Another link they had was a new feature of the site, a language translator. This conference is multinational, so I am sure this was a necessary addition. I will be checking out again in another couple of months to see if they have workshop information downloads. I hope someday I will be able to attend this conference because for what I've seen it looks well worth my time.
