Social Constructivism

Social Constructivism is based on the idea that culture and the people around us make our reality.  People create meaning through their interactions with each other and the objects in their environment.  Social Constructivism says that learning is a social process.  Learning occurs when people work together and share their ideas and experiences.  Social Constructivism embraces the ideas of cooperative learning, group discovery, and is closely associated with Vygotsky, Bruner, and Bandura's theories.   One thing to note is the difference between social constructionism and social constructivism. Constructionism theory has a focus on the way society creates these environments. Constructivism theory has a focus on the decisions people make to react to an environment. (Wikipedia, 2008)   References   Wikipedia (2008). Social constructivism.
