Schema Learning Theory
The Schema Theory of learning can be attributed to the likes of Piaget, Anderson and Bartlett. Schema places much importance on general knowledge. Schemas are organizational units or intellectual units in which the learner places information they have learned. Schema's can be learned or they may be internal sets of beliefs. A Learner may have a Schema for writing, math, etc. Schema's are always changing and expanding. It is important that students have prior knowledge or an established Schema. Teachers and parents can help students to build and expand Schemas and make connections between them. As people grow some Schema's can be hard to alter or change.
