Dimensions of Learning
Dimensions of Learning
Dimensions of Learning is a comprehensive framework that i focuses its ideas around five types of thinking called the five dimension of learning. The model helps you to focus around three major purposes:
Maintain focus on learning with researched based instruction.
Study the process by showing connections and the overlaps of the major instructional models when they are integrated and applied,
It takes the integration of the research of effective teaching and learning and provides a process for planning and delivering the curriculum and instruction using the five critical aspects of learning.
The Five Dimensions of Learning:
Attitudes and Perceptions
Acquire and Integrate Knowledge
Extend and Refine Knowledge
Use Knowledge Meaningfully
Productive Habits of Mind
It is important to realize that the five dimensions do not work independently from each other; rather they work together.
Robert Marzano wrote a book about the five dimensions of learning. I first learned about Robert Marzano through reading one of his books Classroom Instruction that Works. I further got to know him through some of his other works. His ideas about researched based instruction are terrific. i have used several ideas in my classroom with huge success. As I investigated Marzano further, I found that one of his theories was Dimensions of Learning. It made a lot of sense to me.
