School Library Media Administration

Endorsement or Minor Program Planning Sheet

Department of Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences

Utah State University

Overview:  The purpose of the School Library Media Administration program is to provide both pre and in-service teachers with the courses necessary to meet the requirements for library media K-12 endorsement as a school library media specialist/teacher in the state of Utah. It is assumed that the individual seeking teacher endorsement in library media holds, or is working toward, licensure as a classroom teacher. Students enrolled in the teacher education program at either the elementary or secondary education level at Utah State University may elect the program as an undergraduate minor.

Program: The program is designed for students to begin fall semester and complete all requirements by the end of summer semester. The program consists of six courses for a total of eighteen credits.  A minimum of fifteen of the eighteen required credits must be taken through the Department of Instructional Technology at Utah State University for a departmental recommendation to the Utah State Office of Education for endorsement. The courses are broadcast on Tuesday nights each semester, with additional materials and assignments online.

  4. demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively with students and teachers
