ITSA 2009-2010: A New Year!

Welcome: If you have yet to become a member of ITSA, consider this your official invitation and welcome. We hope to make this year a good one for all members and students, past and present. Some of our goals this year are, 1. Increase communication of ITSA events through formats such as email, video recordings, audio recordings etc. 2. Facilitate regular brown bag meetings, 3. Create continuity from year to year with the organization of the government and with increased student involvement in committees.

Meet the new ITSA Government:

Committees: This is your chance to become involved in ITSA. The ITSA committees focus on different areas that are specifically chosen to be beneficial to ITLS students. Here are the committees:

  • Production Committee: Commnication and recording of ITSA events. This is especially helpful for our distance students.
  • Brown Bag Committee: Organize brown bags. If you have an idea or want to get a special guest let's try it!
  • Professional Committee: These people will be the experts on professional organizations. Much of the time we miss out on amazing opportunities becuase we are not keeping track of what the organizations are doing. This committee will also get us in touch with business, local and otherwise. This is a chance for fun fieldtrips and valuable networking.
  • Activities Committee: This group will make sure that we have a chance to relax and get to know each other. If you have an activity idea, join this committee.

Brown Bags: We already have a couple of exciting brown bags on the calendar. Now you can put them on your calendar! To see the rest of the Brown Bag meetings see the department calendar--they're every Thursday from 12noon - 1pm.

  • Sept 17th - Dr. Bentley & Dr. Eastmond report on presentation at Mideast Tech. Univ. in Turkey.
  • Sept 24th - Dave Gordon from DocuMedia will share valuable knowledge learned from establishing his own design business in Ogden Utah. The word is that he will also be interviewing for a flash designer position!

Once again, welcome to all new and returning students. We look forward to this new year.
