Responsibilities
The Instructional Designer (ID) is a formally-trained learning professional with accomplished skills and knowledge in the practice of learning design and development. The ID applies innovative and creative approaches to performance improvement for both clients and associates using KnowledgeWorks development methodology. The ID creates instructional content that is relevant, learner-based, and measurable. Reporting to the Learning Development Program Manager, the ID assumes leadership roles when driving instructional development project teams.
The ID develops, manages, maintains, and evaluates learning solutions, integrating the KnowledgeWorks learning principles (relevant, learn-by-doing, performance-based, just-in-time, and real-time), adult learning principles, and instructional design strategy into every aspect of design. The ID conducts needs, audience, and task analyses with stakeholders to identify performance objectives. Ensures quality and grammatical correctness and adheres to Cerner and commonly-accepted industry standards of writing.
The ID coordinates and facilitates pilots, end-user testing, and prototypes of new or enhanced courses and/or materials; and continuously evaluates learning activities and events for enhancement, redesign, and reporting. The ID promotes the intent of design to instructors and supports KnowledgeWorks teams in special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Education (liberal arts/education focus degree) or equivalent experience
-Excellent consulting, and relationship development skills required
-Excellent analytical, planning and project management skills required
-Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
-Ability to work overtime and irregular hours when needed
-Excellent communication and organization skills
-Demonstrate time and project management skills in order to manage multiple projects, tasks,
or requirements simultaneously
-Demonstrate strong process analysis, problem solving, troubleshooting, and critical thinking
skills
-Learn and apply new technical skills and concepts quickly
-Network with a wide variety of people, including solution experts and global associates, within
all levels of the company
-Display professionalism when dealing with clients, both internal and external
-Develop and maintain strong working relationships
-Demonstrate excellent facilitation and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or Educational Technology
-Experience developing learning for a variety of mediums (instructor-led, web-based, and
performance support)
-Performance consulting experience
