Case-Based Learning
Case-based Learning is a design model that is popular in business, medical, and law schools. Cases are factually-based, complex problems written to stimulate discussions and analysis in the classroom. Students explore the situation and work together to figure out best practices of confronting the problem.
The resolution that students come up with can be helpful, but there are sometimes many right answers. The teacher tends to be a facilitator of the discussion and analysis.
One case I took a look at was the Harvard Case Studies in Public Policy and Management. A case that I went through was the Rebuilding Los Angeles after the LA Riots of 1992. I found it very interesting.
