Wiki & Book Page Types Now Combined
It has proven difficult for some to learn how to make new wiki pages with the [ [ double bracket ] ] linking, and it was confusing to have both a wiki page type and a book content type, so there is just one "wiki book" page type. A wiki page is a webpage that others can edit, and book pages are webpages organized hierarchically like chapters in a book. Now all "wiki book" pages can be (optionally) placed in some book hierarchy, and you'll see an "add child page" link at the bottom to quickly add sub-pages to an existing wiki book page.
More hurricanes on the way...
Over the weekend I got involved in a quick Yahoo Pipes project to aggregate Gustav-related volunteering and housing posts from craigslist. We may have escaped the worst from Gustav, but with other hurricanes already threatening, we are trying to stay mobilized to help in other areas. If you are interested, join the Hurricane Information Center Ning community to see what else needs to be done.Click here to read more »

Group Wikis and Calendars
Groups now have their own calendars and wiki namespace [update: and blogs]. See the 'calendar' and 'wiki' [and 'blogs'] tabs on each group homepage. So for example students in my foundations class may create wiki pages about important people and issues in the field, yet it will be in their own wiki space, not on the main department wiki.
Contact us if you want to create a new group.
