Creating User Community for OCW Through Sharing Lecture Movies

I was able to attend this session from Professor Fukuhara. The gist of the entire session was to show how Keio University in Japan does their open education.  Most of the materials and methods have been done before and were not that unique, but there was something that was very interesting. They've created educational videos with two great features: 1) they are exported to fit an iPhone screen, allowing students to use the videos wherever they have their phone, and 2) create an way to have interactive video.Click here to read more »

USU Rocks! - COSL Conference 2008

Taiwan’s OpenCourseWare--Mark's Impressions

I attended Li HaiShuo's presentation on Open Course Ware at NCTU in Hsin Chu (I believe) Taiwan (ocw.nctu.edu.tw)

Li helped NCTU prepare introductory OCW classes in Physics and Calculus.  He had mixed results.  Students taking the courses for credit at the university had high success rates.  But pre-college students who were taking the class in their summer break almost never completed the course.  Li attributed this to lack of necessity of completion for non-NCTU students and playing too much onClick here to read more »
