Reflection on Field Trip

When Prof. Belland announced the field trips at the beginning of the semester, I got very excited to see what goes on in our field of study, in the private sector. I sadly was not able to attend the first one, but I did get to go visit LetterPress Software. There I was able to meet a professional in our field with some of interesting insight.

Though his name escapes my mind at this time, he was a very simple guy, with simple ideas. Now, even though simplicity was his favorite way of describing what he shared with us, there was a lot of complexity creating this simplicity. His ideas were indeed simple, and I must say I do share his beliefs in designing simple instruction, but the steps to get there, may take a lot of time and experience to develop.

Thoughts on Visit to Letterpress

During the presentation that was given at Letterpress I had two questions. What do they really do at Letterpress, and what do they do that makes them so successful at what they do?
My first question is related the question that I have been trying to answer the whole semester. That is, what do instructional technologists really do? Put more personally, what am I really going to do as an instructional technologist? Visiting Letterpress helped me to find some answers to my questions.Click here to read more »

Reflection of Trip to Letterpress

Before I went to visit Letterpress, I was confused a lot what I am going to do after I graduate from this program. Because I was from a computer programming background, I still want to work with computers. So basically I want to focus my future job on being a programmer. So I struggled a lot before and doubt if I chose the wrong program to study.
After visiting Letterpress, I finally knew that what I can do for my future. Being in Instructional Technology program will really help me a lot.Click here to read more »
