Week 6: Schemata Theory
What is learning? Taking on new information or skills realizing that much of what we learn is affected by our emotions, conditioning, situation, upbringing, environment, and other factors. We may find out later that what we learned, or came to believe as true, was not accurate due to the personal bias we brought to the learning. Or, our learning may be correct but our perception is biased and learning new information later on will be more difficult as we will cling to our long-held belief. For example, I played soccer as a kid, from age 9 to 17. I always believed I was best as a fullback, playing that position most of the time, even preferring it because I thought the coach was right; I "learned" I was best in the back field.
