Tom's Research Paper: Things that I'm interested in researching and writing about

There are many really cool things to write a research paper in the educational technology field.  I think that I have narrowed down my list a bit, but I'd love to hear people's feedback on these.  I've decided to put my focus on how these technology tools improve teacher professional development.

  • Podcasting as a delivery tool in Professional Development trainings (this could be really good, because it fits with the project that I'm doing for 6350)
  • Web 2.0 technologies improving teaching (I love Web 2.0 apps)
  • Social Networking helping school teams and teachers become better collaborators (Addicted to Facebook)
  • Wiki's facilitiating break throughs in School Professional Learning communities (I have my staff using wikis, mainly for sharing content)
  • Web collaboration tools improving Professional Development. (Wimba Rocks, Writeboard is amazing, iChat is useful, Podcasting is a great way to build a community)

I have many more idea's, but these are good ones that apply directly to what I do for my career.

Let me know which you guy's would be most interested in reading about, and hearing me present about.  Otherwise, I may have to use the widely-used super secret scientific method of einnneeee-Meeeaaannnnieee-Miiiiinnnneeeeeyyyyy-Mooooooowwww.

Also If you have any starting points for research, I'd love to take your suggestions.

Thanks,

Thanks

Hey Tom, thanks for your input on my topic.  My problem is I don't know enough about any specific form of AT technology, and I would like to do research on different types so I know what is out there.   My district is pretty poor, and we don't get cool technology stuff very often, so I would like to know what is out there and if it works, and if it is worth the money.   All of your topics sound great!  I would love to learn more about Web Collaboration and professional development, it seems like it would give people in rural school districts more opportunities for professional development.   I also think social networking and school teams is a neat idea.
