Research on Graphing Calculators

Ideally I would like to research about Texas Instruments new TI Navigator system (connects students graphing calculators wirelessly to a classroom computer).  However, the only research I have found is either from the Texas Instruments website (which is probably a little biased) or from the EdIT Lib (Education and Instructional Technology Library) website which I do not have access to (even using USU’s VPN).  I have contacted USU’s library about an interlibrary loan and am waiting for a response.  If I here back from USU and can access EdIT Lib, then I will have more than enough valid resources for a literature review.

Since my first choice may not be available, I have already found multiple resources about the effects of teaching math with a graphing calculator.

nice

Sounds like a good topic.

Yeah, you probably won't find research articles on that specific device, but there are bound to be articles on very similar technologies.

For example, check out stuff by I think Uri Wilensky, Walter Stroup, Vanessa Colella (maybe) and others.  They did something called hubnet I think.  They used the Netlogo  simulation tools, but let students connect to the simulation from their own graphing calculators (I think, it's been a while).

It looks like Hubnet works with the TI-Navigator too now.

If you can't find that research or other research references, email me and I'll try to help more.
