Week 8: Case-Based Learning
Case-Based Learning is, perhaps, the learning theory that resonates the most with how I feel I learn myself. The idea that learners can learn well through stories, or cases, told just in time makes sense to me. I don't usually spend time reading reference material or watching a video tutorial if it doesn't immediately affect my situation or something I'm trying to do. I suspect that students are the same way. They don't want to sit through something if they don't see the point, and they won't likely see the point unless they are facing a problem they can't otherwise solve.
Instructors should be able to notice when students are facing a problem they can't solve and have resources available to help the student. These resources might be more effective if in the form of stories (videos, tutorials, articles, etc). An instructor should be able to create situations in which the students feel a need for more information.

Hi Kevin,
I like case base learning, too. Compared with reading materials and reciting formulas, stories are much more interesting. The most effective is videos, because video is vivid and direct, which could make students involved. It is excellent that you can learn knowledge while enjoying lively stories!
I think the ways of instrcting learner are much more diversiform than before, when I was a kid, teachers facilicated learning through simple manners such as pictures and magnetic tapes, nowadays, they have been imprroved greatly. But there are still much develop space, students always need newer and more vivid methods to facilitare learning.
