Jims Definitions

These terms are very broad in that they can be defined in many ways.  They are overlapping and all encompassing. 

Instructional Technology to me means the engineering or creating of and the systems that deliver quality instruction to students.  It is a process that keeps in mind the learner and their prior knowledge.  It can include a wide array of systems and processes.  I believe that all teachers practice some aspects of instructional technology each day.

Educational Technology in my view is part of and closely related to Instructional Technology.  It is the practice of creating a learning environment and process often times using systems and designs that fall under the term of Instructional Technology.

Learning Sciences to me would mean the study of educating people.  It also would include the study of the processes and systems educators use in the education of people which involves and fits into the term Instructional Technology.
