Hill AFB

We had the opportunity to go to Southwest Research Institute and Hill Air Force Base. These are the highlights of the trip for me:
 
  • Virtual simulations are going to become more popular as technology increases. The cost/time savings is there, the technology is almost there. It will become more popular in the future (at least in my humble opinion).

Connecting Practitioners to Lessons Learned: OER Case Study Tools

The ISKME presentation was of their recent project to create a way for instructional designers to self-evaluate their work. The used six case studies to create a toolkit that they hope will help others evaluate their work. It is open and they want it to be widely used. It was quite an intereting presentation.

Creating User Community for OCW Through Sharing Lecture Movies

I was able to attend this session from Professor Fukuhara. The gist of the entire session was to show how Keio University in Japan does their open education.  Most of the materials and methods have been done before and were not that unique, but there was something that was very interesting. They've created educational videos with two great features: 1) they are exported to fit an iPhone screen, allowing students to use the videos wherever they have their phone, and 2) create an way to have interactive video.Click here to read more »
