I am happy to be here.
I am excited to be a part of something that is so up and coming and in the now. I feel like I spend most of my time discovering new things after everyone on the planet has already been doing a particular strategy or using a tech tool for years.
The main purpose I am in the ITLS program is to become a better instructor. I love my career as a teacher. I have never felt that I have a job. A job is something you have to do to get a paycheck and so people can't call you lazy. I teach because it is a passion of mine. Being amongst this group of people in our cohort is just another reason to love what I do. I do wish I could see everyone face to face. I noticed last week during class that every time someone spoke I just wanted to get on the microphone and give them a "shout out."
Now to my goals for the class. I want to be able to not only make better use of technology, but know when it is appropriate to use that technology. To be able to use technology to have curriculum be efficient, take less effort (in the long run), be aesthetically pleasing to learners, and probably above else be able to troubleshoot without needing a building tech to come solve a problem for me.
My career goals are more short term right now. With starting in a new position in my district am focusing on the now more than on the five years from now. This degree will just compound the oppotunities I will have in the position that I am currently in as well as open doors for me that 10 years ago I would have never thought I would be given a key to those doors.
I love education! I love being an educator!
