The mandatory orientation experience for the ITLS department graduate programs is held each Fall on the USU Logan campus. All incoming graduate students are required to attend, both masters and doctoral level. There are two sections offered, but all incoming graduate students are required to attend only one of the sections. Section 1 is held Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday the first full week of August. Section 2 is held the Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday right before the official first day of fall semester. The orientation is held primarily in the Emma Eccles Jones Education (EDUC) building on the USU Logan campus. [Campus map]

Topics covered during the orientation include general information and expectations, programs of study details and options, library and other resources available, working with the School of Graduate Studies, and meeting the faculty. Experiential learning activities are a major part of the orientation. These are held outside at the USU Ropes Course location. There is a reading assignment connected to group discussion. Further details of the orientation experience are sent to all newly admitted students.

Lodging and transportation, including campus parking, are the responsibility of the student. Meals are included in the orientation experience.

Note: For international students, there is an additional USU orientation coordinated through the Office of International Students Services (OISS). This is not part of the ITLS orientation.
